Then we have the very Viking-looking Sturgians, and last but not least, the Aserai, whose style mimics that of the Egyptian Mamalukes. We’ve got the Mongol-style Khuzait Khanate. There’s the Vlandians with a medieval Frenchmen touch. We’ve got the Battanians who are analogous to the European Celtic tribes. If you're being attacked by a massive amount of guys they might start to falter as as they run out of arrows, cause you can't retreat and reset the siege when defending.We’ve got the Empire, heavily resembling the Roman Empire. I literally abandon the top of the wall and get them all to stand as far back as possible to just watch the top of the wall and the tiny sets of stairs coming down from it so they mow down everyone that enters.
They're not bad at defending a siege either, as long as you have somewhere to fallback to inside your own castle. Effectively taking over some castles without a single unit lost. Once they run out of arrows you just retreat and re-siege. In attacking sieges you literally just get them to hold outside the wall and kill everyone on top of the wall. They can mow down Mamlukes and Swadian Knights, outrange Rhodok crossbows, and can break down Huscarl shields like they're nothing due to their insane range, accuracy and spammability. Especially if you have terrain to your advantage. Tbh I think Vaegir top tier archer spam is the best in the game for taking over the map if we're not talking about auto-resolve fights and AI vs AI fights. IMHO Nords are slightly better (I like to be aggressive in sieges). Success of defending the walls heavily depends on crossbowmen since the spearmen here act only as meatshield for them. In defensive siege, Rhodok crossbowmen sure can outclass Nordic archers, but their main target would be Nordic infantry pushing on their spearmen. In offensive siege, spearmen won't be able to breach the walls on their own and crossbowmen can shoot only non covered units.
Using crossbowmen as support can offset it a bit but even their crossbows are not enough to deal with huge shieldwall. Sure, their spearmen can stop and take down cavalry but in 1v1 combat they're not that good (apart from having high defence). Rhodoks are awesome in defence but lack the damage output in offence. Rhodoks have better crossbowmen, Nords have better infantry. Then you shouldn't have asked :D however if you're up for some discussion.
